Alcohol and Drug Policy

DRUG(S) AND ALCOHOL VIOLATIONS BY STUDENTS

POLICY:

The principal shall proceed as prescribed in State Board of Education Rule 6A-1.0956 when

a student is formally charged with a felony by a proper prosecuting attorney for the unlawful

possession or sale of any substance controlled under Chapter 893, Florida Statutes. The

superintendent shall furnish each principal with a copy of State Board of Education Rule 6A-

1.0956 and with any subsequent rule amendments.

POLICY:

(1) Students shall not possess, use, or be under the influence of illegal or illicit drugs,

drug paraphernalia, or any other substance capable of modifying mood or behavior

or possess or use any substance represented to be of said nature.

(2) Students shall not transmit or distribute, buy or sell any drug or contraband

substance, or sell or transmit any substance represented to be of said nature.

(3) Students possessing, using or being under the influence of a controlled substance

as prescribed for them by a licensed physician shall not be subject to this rule.

Students possessing or using over-the-counter medications in the dosage

prescribed or giving over-the-counter medications to others in the dosage

prescribed shall not be subject to this rule.

(4) Disciplinary procedures for noncompliance with this rule shall be prescribed in the

Code of Student Conduct.
