Setting the Stage for Success

If you have questions or need assistance from the school, please call the school for an appointment prior to coming. Continue to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to get the latest updates and as always GOOOOOOOOO JAGUARS!

• Please call the school if you have any questions regarding registrations or withdrawals. Kindergarten registration is still taking place. The Registration Process & Policies can be viewed on the OCPS New Student Registration site linked below: https://www.ocps.net/departments/student_enrollment/new_student_registration

• The Student Services department in collaboration with the Homeless Education department created a new resource for families to gain assistance from the various social and mental health services provided by the district. The new resource is called OCPS Supports. Parents/guardians will be able to complete a short survey with their contact information and the department where they are seeking assistance. A staff member will be in touch with the family within one to two business days. Click on the link to get started: https://tinyurl.com/OCPSSupports

• OCPS approved to designate Distance Learning Days from August 10-20 (nine days) where all students registered for face-to-face or LaunchEd@Home will be on the LaunchEd platform from home. These will be instructional days that include many of the typical exercises at the beginning of a school year and standard instructional time. The nine days will provide opportunities for students to become comfortable with the LaunchEd platform, as it will be our default should we need to pivot from face-to-face during the pandemic. Teachers can also establish communications with parents and students as we work out any problems and answer questions. We believe it is a win/win for families, students and staff.
This adjustment means:

1. The original approved school calendar is in place, with students starting virtually on August 10th. This adjustment does not require the adding of instructional minutes to the day as some districts have creatively agreed upon.

2. August 21st will still be the first day that students in the face-to-face model report to their campus, having already completed the nine days virtually. This date was included in our Optional Innovative Reopening Plan.

3. OCVS students will start school on August 10th but are otherwise not impacted.
Schools will be communicating with families in need of devices and hotspots. Again, plans remain fluid so your understanding is appreciated.

• We are grateful to have a wonderful partnership with Nemours to offer back-to- school physicals for uninsured or under-insured children. The event will run from four clinics from July 27 – August 6. The physicals are free and include general health assessments and sports physicals with a Nemours Specialist, as well as vision and hearing screenings at select locations. Immunizations will be offered at the Longwood Health Center. To qualify, children up to age 18 must be uninsured or under-insured. Appointments are necessary. Following the completion of their physical exam, they will receive the required Florida Department of Health form (DOH 3040) which meets the state requirement for enrollment in public or private school.
