Welcome to Orlo Vista Elementary School!
Dear Orlo Vista Families,
My name is Jennifer Lawrence, and I am very excited to start this school year as the Principal of Orlo Vista Elementary! I know many of you from last year when I served as the school's Assistant Principal. Through the hard work of our teachers and support staff, we strengthened our students' achievement. Although our school remained a grade of C according to the state of Florida, we made significant improvements in the area of Math which helped to increase our total percentage of points earned from 43% to 51%! We were just four percentage points away from earning a grade of B.
This year, our goal is to earn a grade of A from the state. My vision for accomplishing this goal begins with the culture and climate of the school. I want to transform Orlo Vista into a place where we Strive to Thrive. For the first time in Orlo Vista history, students will be sorted into houses (think Harry Potter) based on characteristics that will create a more positive environment while developing traits that will set them up for future success. Students will learn ways to show friendship, courage, perseverance, and goal setting among others. In addition to the Orlo Vista Houses, we are bringing back student clubs! More details will be sent home shortly after school starts. Finally, I would like to bring our families back into the school building by offering more in-person events incorporating student performances and showcases.
